Ian Fraser
A Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Art, I won the inaugural portrait prize in 2014 for a painting of my father Jimbo. I have shown regularly for over 30 years in galleries in Ireland, England, Italy and the USA and I have painted commissions for clients in Ireland, Israel, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, and the USA. I studied at the Arts Students League in New York.
I love doing people and animal portraits. My paintings of animals, people and landscapes use an impressionistic, yet realistic style influenced by my time as a cartoonist in London. My series of paintings of our black cat Herbie have proved popular all over the world.
An Irish artist now living by the beach in Adelaide Australia, pelicans are another animal favourite of mine. My first solo exhibition of fifty paintings was displayed in the Bay Discovery Gallery in Glenelg.
