Jimmy Smith
Jim spent his younger years at Kingston SE and for about 20 years, shearing took up a big proportion of his life. After an injury to his back, had many career changes, first in the horticultural industry, and later working in the Northern Territory sometimes in very remote locations including Katherine, Kununnurra and Gove in the Arhnem Land. By chance, in 2015, he came across a mossie coil holder, in the shape of a lizard and this became his focus in the form of recycling cutlery into all sorts of homewares and jewellery. He has now found his passion and spends many hours in his shed at Port Willunga, crafting small creatures from forks and spoons as well as bending vintage cutlery into rings, bracelets and pendants. |
